Envirogel® Extinguishing Agent
Envirogel® is a patented blend of liquefied extinguishing
gases combined with a small percentage of specifically sized,
micro-ground dry powder. The synergistic effect of the fire-killing
gas and powder produces a unique gel extinguishant which can
be maintained at low pressure and which possesses an exceptionally
high fire-kill potential relative to the weight of agent employed.
Our patented gelling technology has been developed over 25 years
of intensive research.
The blend of Envirogel® used in combination with the Fire
Foe tube is Envirogel SB. Consisting of Dupont's FE25/FE36
Halon Replacements blended with sodium bicarbonate powder. This
blend is designed for optimum performance in total flooding
protection of Class B&C hazards in enclosed spaces.
Envirogel® has been independently proven to have better
fire-kill performance than Halon and superior performance to
Halon Replacements. In tests conducted by US Federal Aviation
Administration an Envirogel unit successfully extinguished 75%
of fires tested compared with a Halon 1211 unit and an HFC-236fa
unit which extinguished only 45% of fires tested. Because less
Envirogel® is needed than any other Halon Replacement to
achieve the equivalent fire-kill, Envirogel® has less Global
Warming Potential than any of those replacements.
The micro-ground dry powder element gives superior performance
against re-ignition. It has been independently proven to be
non-corrosive and does not damage machinery, electronic circuitry,
alloys or specialist finishes. It can be quickly and easily
vacuumed off, simply wiped off, or blown off surfaces.
A major advantage of Envirogel® is that it naturally controls
Hydrogen Fluoride to better than safe levels. Tests conducted
by the FAA have shown a comparable charge of Envirogel®
produces 60% less HF than a similar charge of HFC-236fa gas.
This is because the dry powder element in Envirogel® acts
as an acid scavenger. US Army tests concluded that "Discharging
an acid scavenger along with an HFC can significantly reduce
the HF levels, sometimes to below detectable levels". The
US Environmental Protection Agency has uniquely certified Envirogel®
safe for use in normally occupied spaces.
More powerful and potent pound-for-pound than Halon and
Halon Replacements
Less Global Warming Potential than any Halon Replacement
Harmless to machinery, micro-circuitry, alloys and specialist
finishes
Controls HF to better than safe levels
